Are you ready for a new job?

Saw an article, which i find it helpful, and meaningful at the same time. For those who are already working and those who are going to work in the future. Here it goes. :

You’ve been working overtime. You feel like you don’t get paid quite enough. Your colleagues are annoying. And you can’t stand your manager. Are all these reasons solid enough for you to quit your job?

The idea of throwing in the towel for greener pastures may seem enticing. But before you do that, there are a few things you need to consider.

First of all, job-hopping may not necessarily look good on your CV. Many potential employers still hold the traditional view that too much job-hopping makes you look like an undependable employee.

The second thing to remember is that even if you have a more lucrative offer in the bag, there’s no guarantee that you’re not jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. Think about it. What if the boss of the new job is even crazier? Or what if the higher pay also means longer hours and working in the weekends?

So before you let your emotions and frustrations of your current job overwhelm you into an early resignation, ask yourself these three questions before deciding to change jobs.

Is the Frustration Temporary or Permanent?

Is it just a current project that is causing you grief? Step back and take a look at the bigger picture. After this project, is there long-term potential for significant career growth where you can gain more experience, recognition and benefits?

You could sit down with your manager or with your HR department on the potential of your career growth, benefits, promotions and remunerations if you were to stay. Don’t forget to also ask about the training that your company can provide for you.

If there is good potential for your career growth and training, then it’s worth biting the bullet and sticking with your current job. Jumping into a new job will only mean starting as a newbie learning the ropes of a new company.

Here’s a good tip to help you rough out the tough times: Never forget to keep your eye on the big picture of your career growth in order to stay motivated, and remind yourself that this frustration is only temporary. It will be worth it!

2. Are You Unhappy With the Job, or With Your Colleagues?

It could be that you love what you do, but it’s the people whom you work with that are getting you down. Perhaps it’s unfavourable team dynamics, or annoying colleagues, or a tough manager.

If this is the case, consider the ways you could fix the problem before you consider quitting your job. Voice your frustrations to somebody who can remain neutral and act as a mediator, such as your HR Manager or an impartial colleague. Have all parties, including the mediator, to sit down for an open discussion with the clear objective of talking and resolving the issues.

Remember to approach the situation calmly, to listen to everyone’s frustrations, and to not make any personal attacks. Stick to the issues and have an honest, open discussion on how everyone as a team can participate to resolve it. You may even be surprised at just how much things can improve!

3. Are Your Skills and Passion Being Fully Utilised?

A study done by the Department of Economics and Management of the University of the Azores showed that skill mismatches in a job often leads to job dissatisfaction.

So ask yourself honestly:

“Is this job bringing out and developing the best skills in me?”

This can be a very tough question to answer honestly, but it’s worth taking the time to really evaluate your situation. Are your core skills being put to practical use in your job? Does your job encourage you to develop new ideas within your strengths? Are you continually learning, developing and sharpening your skills on the job? Do you take interest and pride in the results of your projects?

If the job isn’t utilising your best skills, developing your potential, or aligned with your interests, then it’s best for you to find a new job that does. Remember to look for a job that offers career development aligned with your skills and interests, and don’t just be influenced by the promises of higher pay or hopes of greener pastures.

Effectively, it’s about prioritising what’s best for your career growth instead of succumbing to emotions. By evaluating your situation with an objective point of view, you’ll be able to make the best decision for yourself.

Hope this helps. :) And thinking about working, well it's good that you can earn your own money already without troubling your parents. But still.. NO FREEDOM ALREADYYY. Booo! Don't cha think?

How i wish i am a freaking billionaire so that i don't have to work. Bwahahahaha. *slaps self* :P

ps: God Speed, Steve Jobs.

Dear Designers...

Dear designers...

Do read this as i think it's really meaningful, especially to those who are in the creative line. :)

And yea, an advice from my lecturer about filming though.

I think it is good for you to participate and have a stronger story after sitting down for a short discussion and see how we can expand or explore the creativity of the story line. Listen to inspiring ideas and create your own. Watch more powerful documentary shows (award winning) and see their presentation style. You need to ensure that the ‘links’ work well throughout the movie. The power of editing the story is important and how you tell the story is important apart from good technical skills shooting them.

Tips from me.

1. Good story to tell the audience!

2. Captivating views links to the story.

3. Connect what you want to say to the audience via good camera works (perception, POV, or composition)

4. And other film making reference needed.

Something worth reading

Though it's in chinese. Hehehe.
:)

Amigos

Received the letter from Tar college this morning. I'm no longer a Tar college student, but an ex. :| Should i be happy or sad? I don't know. But there are lots of memories flashing back right now during the days back then. But sad to say, most of the memories i had were with the hostel mates, old hostel mates, i should say, as most of us already left the college except for Angie and Abby. And now we still remember each other although we seldom contact yet we are still as close like last time. I miss my classmates too. I miss my hostel mates even more.

They are the ones that accompanied me throughout my diploma year, as that time i feel so left out from the classmates. We took care of each other, we had our meals together, hang out together, laugh and cried together, helped each other, so on and fourth. Basically we did almost everything together. Like other girls, we talked a lot too. lol. Although sometimes we dislike each other, oh well, still, we are friends in the end, good friends. I still remember that two of them who took care of me when i was ill that time. And a friend that likes to sing at me when i woke up from sleeping like almost everytime. Will never forget every single thing we did and here, i wanna say a big thank you to all of you. Thanks for the memories. :))

I have to be honest that i am not happy at all when i stepped into the college at first. Of course, my first time being away from home. And things happened that time which i don't even want to remember about. End of 2006-2007, worst moment in my life ever.
Life in college changed when i met them.  And, will we have the chance to meet again?

If we don't have the chance to gather again, for now, perhaps when i came back from Sarawak? We'll have a full gathering by then, hopefully.

All the best to all of you.

Miss ya'll!

.

It's been two weeks already since i'm back in Ipoh. And i miss the city still. Also, i miss Tokio Hotel's concert like so friggin much. How i wish that i could wind back the time to the 1st of May. Hmm.
Basically i did nothing much in Ipoh. Most of the time i stay at home. It's kinda different compared to the life in KL. When i was in KL, i went out every single day, uhm yea, can say so. For food of course. In order to get cheap and nice food(for lunch), i need to drive all the way to Subang. I'm not really sure about the place, but if i'm not mistaken, it's a market on the lower ground. Well you can find food which is the same price in Ipoh there. Besides food, sometimes you'll be seeing me wondering around PJ and KL city with my camera. I enjoy myself there. Though you need to walk a lot, especially when i'm in the city. You see, it's totally different when you travel by car and with your feet. It depends on the individual. Sometimes when i'm tired and lazy, i'll board a public transport. Heh.

And now i am still waiting for the offer letter from the university. The previous one was full of mistakes! Bah. Hope they'll remember that. :S
I am happy for myself that i will be studying in a university soon, like my friend said, "upgrading". From college to university. Oh well, hopefully i'll adapt myself to the new environment as soon as i get there, and won't be left out. ;( Don't want the same old fucking shit to happen to me again. And more. Sorry, some can't be written here.

It's kinda jealous and really envy seeing the friends having chances to go oversea and study. Cuz i've been longing for that for soooo long. Till now it still never happens on me. :( Herher. And i'm still waiting. According to my old friend, do not let go when you have the chance. Won't for sure, i'll just go for it. Though sometimes there are reasons that you don't feel like. Oh well, this is life. What to do. All i could is live up my dream, do the things i want. And of course, cherish the love ones around me. In short, live my life to the fullest! =)
